Do you already own a telescope and need some support? You have come to the right place! Today a great number of telescopes are permanently parked in the loft or basement and never get used anymore. The reason might be that the telescope is defective, that some components might be missing, or simply that the user is unsure about how to operate the telescope. Maybe you are even thinking about getting a new telescope instead? Please wait and consider! Typically these issues can be resolved with a little help, and rather than getting a new telescope you can get to enjoy your existing telescope again!

Troubleshooting and repair

Get in touch with us and describe which telescope you own and what problem you are experiencing. You need no technical knowledge, we will guide you in the process! Once we have located the likely cause of the problem we can give you an estimate of what needs to be done and what the costs might be to solve the problem. Up to this point you do not owe us anything, there are no costs involved and you do not enter any contract with us, so please do not hesitate to contact us!

If you choose to proceed it might then be necessary to send the telescopes, or parts thereof, to us in Sweden so we can locate and fix the problem. You will always be updated on the progress and you always get to choose if you want to proceed once we can give you a final cost estimate.

Service and cleaning

Maybe your telescope or its optics got a little dirty with time? Or maybe you feel that the optics need to be adjusted? Do you want to have your mount tuned? We can help! Let us know which telescope you have and what kind of service you would like done.

Sourcing or manufacturing spare parts

Sometimes a small but critical component of a telescope is lost by accident. It could be that the entire telescope is no longer operational, or at least some important function no longer works. Maybe the adaptor for your eyepieces is missing? Or a few of the screws on the tripod? Even if you are not 100% sure exactly which part is missing, we can help you! Let us know which telescope you have, send a couple of pictures, and we will take it from there!

Once we have identified what is missing we check if a suitable spare part can be sourced from the manufacturer. A telescope isn't a smartphone, you'd be surprised how many parts can be sourced at a reasonable cost! Even if no original spare part is available we have the tools and machinery to manufacture many spare parts here at Nienna's mechanical workshop.

Detailed guidance and training

Using a telescope is something almost anyone can learn how to do, but it is not trivial! To make matters worse, especially when you need help the most - early on in your astronomical journey - it is hard to find help online simply because you may not yet know which questions to ask. This is nothing to be ashamed of! We have all been there when we got started, and even the most experienced users might still hit a road block from time to time. We have all experienced the frustration when the telescope refused to do what we wanted it to do. Here we were, out in the cold, dark night, tired from a long day at school or at work, and the telescope just wouldn't cooperate! No wonder that many telescopes get permanently exiled to a dark corner in the basement. If this has happened to you please know: you are not alone, and we can help you!

As said, even the most experienced users might suddenly be faced with a new issue that the don't know how to solve, so this is not at all limited only to beginners.

Let us help you! We offer detailed guidance and training to enable you to gladly pick up the telescope again and have a wonderful experience under the night sky once more! We always match the content of this training to your exact needs and level of prior knowledge. The training can be done on the phone, in a video conference via Jitsi, Skype, or Teams, or here at our premises in Skara, Sweden.
